The President elect, His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, must be careful in his choice of Chief of Staff. One of the reasons Buhari government failed is because he brought in a Chief of Staff who was inaccessible and does not know those who worked on the field to bring in that government. The late Abba Kyari was inaccessible and same as the current Chief of Staff thereby preventing the flow of developmental ideas from Nigerians to the presidency.
I read the newspaper headlines on Monday, it looks like Asiwaju is about to make the same mistake by appointing Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila. I don’t know if it is true or a mere media projection to throw him up and heat up the system but the fact remains that Mr Femi is not a good Chief of Staff material. He played a minimal role in the campaign and does not have a good interaction with those who brought the government on board. He is very inaccessible as the Speaker of the House of Representatives, those who have close association with him also said he is too arrogant to manage the sensitive office.
Mr Femi is also a Muslim like Asiwaju and Shettima, his choice will not give the Christian community the needed sense of belonging they have been yearning for.
I sincerely hope and pray that the president elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu will avoid this pitfall by appointing someone who worked closely with Nigerians to bring him to government.
