To set the records straight, I trained in media related courses in the United States of America, United Kingdom, Senegal, Togo, Cameroon, Gambia, Benin Republic, and the Congo Brazzaville under the sponsorship of the Nigerian Ports Authority where I retired voluntarily after two decades of meritorious service to my fatherland.

Subsequently, I returned home to serve under Dr Philip Salawu, my brother and mentor where I spent five good years under his tutelage.

Recall that I had wanted to be the executive chairman of Okehi local government but lost my bid to the corrupt nature of the politics of the time.

Lest I forget, I was also a political and crime correspondent for four years until I decided to rest and prepare myself as member representing Adavi/Okehi federal constituency at the lower chamber of the National Assembly in the nearest future. Now, let’s go back to the topic of the day.

Today, Ebiraland is in search of heroes, I am very disturbed and saddened that nobody among the elites is prepared to pay the supreme price to get Ebiraland out of the doldrums. The gospel truth is that the hero is nowhere to be found. The last time I checked, only few of our elites are willing to return home to invest in their fatherland.

Let me inform you that one Alhaji Yahaya Karaku, a former chairman of Okene local government area council, is my hero of all time. That young man should have been enrolled into the Nigerian Armed forces by his parents. He has the heart of a lion and other strong entities in the animal Kingdom. I have known him for the past ten years now and never have been disappointed by him one bit. I have come to realize that he was largely misunderstood by a number of people who are too detached away to know him.

I have built a rapport with this young chap since the senseless war that gripped the body and soul of Okene town, his local government area of birth.

Recall that Yahaya Karaku insisted doggedly that he wanted to serve his people as the executive chairman of the local government, this he eventually did to the admiration of all. As a courageous journalist, I was able to convince him to go round Okene with me so that we can have on the spot assessment of the gory situation that pervaded the land then. We were able to assess the damages and havoc done to that part of our fatherland by the criminal elements ravaging, plundering and disturbing the peace of that hitherto metropolitan town.

On the fateful day, myself, Yahaya Karaku, Adi Oziogu and a few other journalists set out on a dangerous and risky journey to assess the state of things for ourselves.

To cut the story short, myself, Yahaya karaku and Mr Ayodele of Thisday newspaper went round Okene, bullets from AK47 were flying all over the places, thank God the angel of death had none of our names in his book that day. Since that day, my respect for Alhaji Yahaya karaku knows no bound. No wonder, the then governor of kogi state, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, nicknamed him the strong man of Okene politics.

Viewed against this background therefore, I want to recommend Alhaji Yahaya karaku to our Royal father, Dr Ado Ibrahim, for a befitting traditional tittle. In the same vein, I want to recommend him to Mr president, Muhammadu Buhari, for a national merit award like Order of the Niger or any appropriate national award.

Let’s go back to our topic of the day.

The big question on my lips is who is prepared to die for Ebiraland today. Dear readers and followers on this platform, please feel free to give the name of those you think are prepared to pay the supreme price because Ebira nation have been kind to them.
