Former Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris has announced that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will take over the mantle of leadership the state in 2019.
Idris made this known today during the Kogi PDP stakeholders meeting in Lokoja.
He stated that Kogi people are suffering and there is an urgent need to come back and salvage the state from total collapse.
“PDP is fully ready to take over in 2019 to salvage Kogi State from impunity and maladministration by the All Progressive Congress (APC) led administration”, he said.
He assured that he will personally go out and bring back those that left PDP.
Immediate past Governor of the state, Captain Idris Wada will not repeat the mistakes of the past. He assured party faithfuls that the PDP will not lose elections again in the state.
He informed members that the party is been re-positioned ahead of 2019 general elections. He called on party executives at ward and local government levels to hold similar meetings and sensitize other members on the need to remain loyal to the party.
A chieftain of the party, Hon. Kola Ologbondiyan expressed the readiness of PDP to take power back to the people. He said the party has learnt from past mistakes and is now in good position to make the state better.
In a chat with newsmen after the meeting, the Publicity Secretary of the party in the state, Chief Bode Ogunmola urged defectors to return from their fruitless sojourn in APC.
Ogunmola described the APC led government in the state as a total failure. He said the people of Kogi, especially civil servants and pensioners have suffered untold hardship and job loses as a result of shambolic screening exercise and lack of political will to pilot the affairs of the state by the current administration.
According to him, it is a misnomer to keep public servants and pensioners who have served the state meritoriously starved for 18 months without salaries and pensions using the endless screening as face saving measure
He urged the people of Kogi state not to be deceived by the obvious lies of the current administration. He lamented the level of decadence and the denigration of the office of the governor being witnessed in the present dispensation. He urged party members to remain firm and resolute
The meeting witnessed large turnout of party members and supporters which include former Governors Ibrahim Idris and Idris Wada, Senator Tunde Ogbeha, Senator Ahmed Ogembe, Hon. Emmanuel Egwu, Hon. Tajudeen Yusuf, Patrick Adaba, Hon Yahaya Karaku, Hon Kola Ologbondiyan, Dr Idris Omede, Barrister Kabiru Usman, Malam Zakari Alfa and other prominent party leaders.
