We Will Make Kogi a Tourism Hub in Nigeria – Wada

The Kogi State Government says it will not rest on its oars until Lokoja and indeed the entire State is made a tourism hub in Nigeria.

Kogi State Governor, Capt. Idris Wada, stated this at the commissioning of Reverton Hotels, a private initiative in the State Capital.

The Governor who was represented by his Deputy, Yomi Awoniyi, disclosed that the realization of the availability of good hospitality architecture has become a necessary condition for the promotion of a vibrant tourism industry.

Capt. Wada, noted that the present administration has invested heavily in the development of the hospitality structures owned particularly by the State, with the sole aim of stimulating interest in the sector.

While noting that the present government’s strategy for re-investing in tourism development in the State is on course, Wada said it is however his administration’s desire to privatize its hospitality industry, so that attention can be committed to core activities of government.

Capt. Wada, congratulated and commended the promoters of Reverton Hotel, not just for scaling up the status of hospitality services in the State, but for facilitating the actualization of the vision of the present administration in making the State a tourism hub.

The Governor, called on the management of the hotel to develop appropriate codes of ethics in service provision, and to continue to represent the State well as they now constitute a corporate face of the State.

As incentives, the Governor assured of the repair of the roads leading to the Reverton Hotel and its neighborhood  alongside the repairs of other roads in the state towards stimulating the state’s economy.

Earlier in his opening remarks, Barr Funsho Fayemi, said the vision of having a world class hotel in Lokoja was occasioned by the strategic location of the state capital and the friendly environment created by the Kogi State Government and people of the state.

The Hotel which presently employs about a hundred workers, Fayemi disclosed has 82 standard rooms, 6 Executive suites, 1 Presidential Suite, a restaurant, conference halls, swimming pool among other facilities.

He commended the on going government interest in the tourism sector called for government’s support to enable the industry thrive in the state.
