In a staunchest loyalty to Hon Queenbeebat Aliyu, group of women under the auspices of Lokoja Women for Change pledged their commitment to campaign for the flag bearer of the Labour Party, Queen Habeeba Aliyu even if the men in the constituency fail to support her.

The women who spoke unanimously through one of their spokesperson, Hajiya Maryam Yunusa predicated their decision on the fact that Habeeba is the best candidate for the March 2nd House of Assembly elections.

She noted that women has a paltry 6% membership in Nigerian parliamentary houses.

“It is not only unfair but also ungodly for 50% of the population to be represented in lawmaking by less than 6%,” she said.

Maryam, while enumerating the philanthropic achievements of Hon Habeeba which she described as unprecedented, argued that there is need to do better on gender representation and affirmative action.

The hundreds of women who gathered in Lokoja hailed the candidature of Queen Habeeba, describing her a model of development.

While counting Hon Habeeba’s myriads achievements, an award of excellence was bestowed on her as a lady with a compassion to serve humanity.

Hajiya Maryam revealed that the organisation is focused on working for Queen Habeeba to ensure she win the 2019 election, having the mandate to go into the knocks and crannies of the constituency to canvass massive votes for her.

According to her, voters’ education will soon be organized for the women of Lokoja in few days on how valid votes will be secured for Habeeba.

“We want to make sure that our votes are in tact and secured for Habeeba, for her sake we cannot afford to loss a single vote for whatever reason,” Maryam said.

While responding to the mammoth crowd of the cheering women, Habeebah reiterated that Lokoja is her first priority and she is out to serve with all integrity.

“I am a blessed child of my father, I can’t do less than good because that is what I grew up to know,” Habeebah said.
