Despite the absence of the Kogi State governor, Captain Idris Wada, due to auto accident where he was left injured, the state government, on Monday, promised to embark on aggressive developmental projects, which would impact positively on the lives of the people of the state.
Also, the government assured that there would be no vacuum as a result of the incapacitation of the governor.
The state Commissioner for Information and Culture, Yabagi Bologi, who briefed journalists after the expanded executive council meeting chaired by the state deputy governor, Yomi Awoniyi, said the 2013 budget, as passed by the state House of Assembly, would be properly implemented for the progress and accelerated growth of the state.
Bologi said the government had already taken steps to ensure sustainable agricultural development, adding that a state-owned television station would soon be in place for effective information dissemination.
He said the governor was recovering fast and would return sooner than people expected, so as to continue with the task of transforming the state.
According to him, “in order not to create any vacuum with its attendant problems as a result of the incapacitation of the governor, he has directed that we meet and carry on with activities of governance unhindered.”
On the planned oversight function by the state House of Assembly, he noted that it was the constitutional responsibility of the assembly, which the executive would not interfere with.
He assured that the government would follow the implementation of the 2013 budget, as passed by the House of Assembly to the letter, to ensure growth of democracy in the state.
