Kogi State governor Captain Idris Wada has urged financial institutions in the state to support small and medium enterprises to grow.
Governor Wada, who gave the charge recently in Lokoja during the capacity building scheme organized by Stanbic IBTC bank for small and medium enterprises operators in the state, said government alone cannot provide all the needs of the people.
The governor, who was represented by the commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Chief Ali Ajuh, said small and medium enterprises played a vital role in the economy of the state, saying it helps in income generation and poverty reduction.
He however appealed to other financial institutions in the state to emulate the bank by supporting small and medium enterprises.
Earlier, the north regional manager of the bank Mr. David Mante said the programme was organized to empower small and medium enterprises operators in the state for better performance.
