Wada Tasks FG on Ajaokuta Rehabilitation

The Kogi State governor, Idris Wada, has appealed to President Goodluck Jonathan to revamp the moribund Ajaokuta Steel company for the benefit of the state and the country.

Governor Wada made the appeal yesterday during the official commissioning of the 434 Megawatt Geregu Power plant II of the National Integrated Power Plant(NIPP),  at Geregu, Ajaokuta local government  of the state.

He said Ajaokuta Steel company which is not too far  away from the Geregu power plants I and II, will be a  great beneficiary of the plants, hence the need to  quickly revamp it and put it to use for the benefit of the nation.

“I wish as you leave today, you will soon propose another visit  here to inspect Ajaokuta Steel for rehabilitation. The resuscitation of the steel company will generate wealth, create employment and help the industrial and agricultural transformation agenda of the state and the federal government.”

He further appreciated to the federal government to create a free enterprise zone in the state so as to benefit from the two Geregu power plants which have a combined 800 Megawatt of electricity supply.
