Immediate past governor of Kogi state, Captain Idris Wada has promised to actualise the power shift in the body politics of  the state to douse ethnic envy across the state.

He disclosed that although the party was robbed in the 2015 governorship election, which has truncated the programmes of his administration, the  dream of delivering good governance is still achievable if the delegates make a right decision by choosing him as the standard bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the November governorship election.

Wada disclosed this on Friday at Odo Ere, Isanlu and Mopa, headquarters of Yagba West, Yagba East and Mopamuro Local Government Councils respectively, when he visited the party executives and stakeholders to solicit for their votes for the  September 3, 2019 delegates election of the PDP.

He reminded the people that although he had made some mistakes in his first tenure, which he said was not deliberate, he is ready to correct those mistakes for the advancement of the state.

He noted that his election is going to be facilitated by the good people of the party hence the government has become their own urging them to consider his pedigree while making choices on September 3.

He disclosed that while in the office he convinced the Federal government to partner with the management of Dangote Cement Company for the reconstruction of Obajana – Kabba road, which he said has been completed.

The former governor stated that if, by the grace of God, he is elected, he will work assiduously again with the Federal Government to complete the entire stretch of expressway from Kabba to Yagba West.

He explained that he has only four years tenure which he promised to ensure smooth rotation of power to Kogi West, stressing that he has always been an advocate of organised power shift.

“It is my firm expectations to constitute men of integrity to fashion out modalities for a smooth rotation of powers within local government councils and within the three senatorial zones of the state.

“I know very well that every zone of the state has capable and experienced men and women that can pilot the affairs of the state. But given the peculiarities of democracy which is the game of numbers, a section can continue to rule the state for eternity. Unfortunately, I could not constitute the committee before we were robbed out of office.

“I assure you that with your maximum support for me at the delegates primaries and the November 16 general elections, we will together work for seamless transfer of power to the west,” he guaranteed.

He disclosed that he had worked out smooth strategy for power rotation before the 2015 election, adding that he is already working with well meaning Kogi citizens to actualise the dream.

He promised to revamp the agricultural programme at Alape that was truncated by the succeeding government. He lamented at the state of deprivation that has befallen the state.

Wada assured youths and women that he will build on the gains of his programmes to uplift their welfare.

He said he stand out among the plethora of aspirants with what it takes to ensure smooth rotation of power to the western senatorial district as he has only one constitutionally approved tenure.

Hassan Salau, former Chairman of the party; Hon. Tolorounju Faniyi, former commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs and  Hon. Salawudeen Ganiyu Erukutu, in their separate speeches, commended the former governor for his life saving programmes and projects of his administration. They assured him of  hundred percent Yagba delegates votes in the September PDP primary election.
