Wada Hails Positive Disposition of Kogi Youths

The administration of Capt Idris Wada says it is happy with the positive disposition of Kogi State youth towards engaging in meaningful programs that can transform their lives from dependency to self reliance.

The State Governor made the assertion at the closing ceremony of the training of the second batch of 500 youths in Agriculture Enterprise, at NYSC orientation camp Kabba.

Represented by his Deputy, Yomi Awoniyi, said the administration is presently pleased with the attitude of its youths, pointed out that the consistency and zeal the present government has used to pursue its youths program is an expression, not only of its belief in youths development,but a demonstration of a clear vision for a great future for a succeeding generation.

The Governor urged the graduands to use the opportunities they now have, as the responsibility for their success lies in their hands.

Capt Wada noted that aside physical landmarks,his administration is concerned about character reformation,attitudes that have been changed and solid foundations of human capacity as well as human capital that have been laid in the State.

The Governor urged the graduands to practically apply the knowledge they acquire for a successful enterprise individually and if necessary combine to form clusters of business where resources can be harnessed for corporate success.

Earlier in her opening remarks,the Special Adviser,Women and Youth Development, Dr Mrs Temitope Shinkaiye, said the program is designed to equip enterprise,self employment and economic empowerment.

She added that those selected have been equipped with knowledge and financial support.

An effective monitoring machinery to ensure that the purpose of the program is well served Mrs Shinkaiye disclosed has been put in place.

She equally added that the program which will stem Rural Urban migration, has a device mechanism to measure performance evaluation through which those who manage their businesses well will be further supported and rewarded is in place as a way of sustaining the program.

The graduands who were trained for two weeks and drawn from the 21 LGA’s, have indicated interest in Cassava processing Technology, Fabrication, Operation and maintenance of cassava processing equipment as well as rice cultivation, brings the number of youths empowered by the youth Advancement and Development Programme to 2250.
