In line with global best practices in governance that places emphasis on growth, development and the peoples welfare, kogi state governor, Captain Idris Wada has assured that only credible men and women will in a couple of days from now be appointed to serve in the brand new state Executive council that will help drive home his transformation agenda.
While emphasis the governor declared will henceforth be on excellence and merit in appointment into positions of authority in the state, those that will make the list as commissioners and special Advisers he disclosed are those who will have satisfied the requirements listed to offer selfless service and are intellectually and morally sound.
In a statement issued in Lokoja, Captain wada assured the people of his administration’s determination to transform lives in a more positive ways describing leadership in the present dispensation as serious business.
The expected executive cabinet, Captain Wada maintained will be made of men and women of high integrity who have the knowledge and workings of modern day administration.
Capt Wada said governance in the state will no longer be business as usual but one that will be purposeful, focused and determined to offer democracy dividends to the people within a relatively short time. Capt Wada said policies aimed at jump starting the economy to compete favourably with developed economies in the world will be his focus while priority he said will be on improving the Agriculture, rural development and the educational sector among other areas the people are lacking development.
Captain wada who spoke through the state Deputy Governor Arc Yomi Awoniyi at Makurdi during the just concluded PDP North Central convention to journalists,with the statement issued and signed by Abu Mike, his chief press secretary, promised the people accelerated development within the next four years.
Kogi, Capt Wada maintained has no business remaining among the poor states in the country in view of the abundant human and natural resources that abound the state, appealed to the people to join hands with his administration in creating an enabling environment for investors whom he disclosed are showing remarkable interest in coming to invest in the state.
The governor lamented the high rate of unemployment in the country promised to create jobs that will help check youths restiveness. and thuggry in the state. Emphasis the governor noted will be placed on skill acquisition for the teeming youths who wish to be gain fully employed, said with the several programs that will be put in place by his administration, the youths in the state will not only be made self reliant, they will all through his four year administration occupy a pride of place in his youths and women empowerment agenda.
