Wada Assists Ette Community With N3m Relief

Kogi State Government says it is committed to ensuring that communities in the State live in a manner that is sustainable, without any fear of insecurity.

The State Governor, Capt Idris Wada gave the assurance when he presented a cheque of N3,000,000 to Ette community development to aid in the provision of relief materials, following the attack on the community by hoodlums last year.

The Governor, who was represented by his Deputy Yomi Awoniyi, promised to bring to an end to, communal crisis between its communities and other neighbouring communities sharing boundaries with the State.

The Governor assured the people living in Ette of government support disclosing that their plight is been handled by the National Boundary Commission, promising to bring an end to their plight.

The Governor promise of more efforts at providing relief to those displaced in the community and a comprehensive rehabilitation programme that would help in the government planned re settlement programme for Ette community.
The Governor assured that their request for Road and Hospital has being captured in the 2015 State Government budget estimate, reiterated government’s resolve to ensuring that communities in the State get proper government attention.

The Governor prayed for quick return of peace to troubled communities in the State, disclosing that the present administration would not relent in protecting and providing for its citizens.

Earlier in his remarks, Mr. Anthony Eko, National President of Ette Community Development Association, narrated their harrowing experiences in the hands of hoodlums in December, last year, but appreciated the State Government for coming to their aid through relief assistance.

The President appealed for an early measure that would led to the end of the boundary dispute, solicited the construction of the community’s road from Okpo as well as a health centre.

The visit was attended by the traditional ruler of Ette Community, HRH Chief (Dr) Aaron Ako.
