Eligible voters in Kogi State have appealed to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to extend the closing date for its Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) exercise in the state.

The CVR and collection of permanent voter cards (PVCs) exercises commenced concurrently across the 21 local government areas in the state on September 2 and ended yesterday.

Large number of voters that turned out at registration centres situated at the Lokoja local government INEC office complained that the exercise was slow due to intermittent breakdown of the systems.

An eligible voter, Adah Samuel, however, blamed “the inadequate number of registration officers and failure of the machines.”

Responding to the complaints, INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Kogi, Malam Hussaini Halilu Pai, acknowledged the hitches recorded.

He, however, said that INEC technical personnel were working to solve the problems.
