By Aishat Bello.
The Lokoja Command of Kogi State Chapter of the Nigeria Vigilante Group (NVG) has  conferred on the Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Umar Ahmed Imam who is the member representing Lokoja I Constituency, the Patronship of its Command. This development according to the Commandant  Comrade Hassan Yusuf, is in recognition of his humane disposition, steadfastness and commitment to the welfare of the Group.
The Commandant while highlighting some challenges they face in the discharge of their selfless service to Lokoja Community request their new Patron to use his good office in presenting their challenges, which include mobility, to the appropriate quarters, as most of them have to use their motor bikes in terms of distress calls.
He explained further that the Group is presently on a one month leave in protest to ventilate their grievances for the harsh treatment melted on them by the Nigeria Police. While explaining the ill effect of the leave, the Group said their absence from duty has heightened the nefarious activities of unlawful groups in town.
The Speaker appreciated the Group for the honour done him by making him their Patron. He pleaded with the Group to, as a mark of honour, call off their leave and resume normal voluntary service of securing the Community while assuring them to table their challenges before the appropriate authorities, a request the Group immediately granted. He also pledged to render logistic support to the Group.
