Kogi State Chief Whip, the Alara Of Ogidi Kingdom, is the most development conscious parliamentarian of our generation.
Those who knew the new Chief Whip Kogi State House of Assembly, in person of Hon Adewale Victor Omofaiye before his romance with politics must not go through any sore pained rigour in the recent manifestation of his political inclination or promotion.
People would say this is why many good Nigerians avoid public office like plaque. Our people are hardly willing to
separate the wheat from the chaff when condemning public office holders. As far as most of our people are concerned, all politicians are nothing but petty criminals and pen robbers.
Though, this is not always true. We still find folks with genuine mindsets for service and the enigmatic Honourable per excellence in person of Mr Victor Omofaiye Adewale is one of those craving for good governance for his constituents through incredible legislative discharge.
I remember an occasion during his campaigns to be a Member representing Ijumu Constituency in 2015. A couple of us were in a discussion with an old colleague of his and this led us into his work ethic. The lead discussant, who was clearly one of Omofaiye most trusted aides today, informed me that his boss and some of his friends worked like
there would be no tomorrow when he was the Deputy Chief Whip to Ijumu LG while Hon Taufiq A Isa was the Chief Whip.
He said his colleague who happens to be his boss now will work round the clock to ensure meeting up adequate expectations of the responsibilities saddled upon him. The aristocratic manner he outclassed the Nollywood Star in a national contest on who becomes the “Christian Best Parliamentarian Of The Year” The Adde born Political Star in his cultural way of winning showed the popular Desmond Elliot of Lagos State House of Assembly defeat of his life as he dealt with him hands down and classically emerged.
Behold! Hon Omofaiye is a “Congenital Winner” Therefore, he had charted a successful path for himself in legislative experience even as he is credited with some of the fundamental innovations that launched his legislative representation into most adored arm of government in this democratic dispensation.
Although people generally assume that Omofaiye foray into politics was at the prompting of Senator Smart Adeyemi, his political mentor and benefactor, this is far from the fact.
One clear indication of this is that, while Sen Smart Adeyemi was still mentoring Journalistic World in Nigeria, the budding politician allied with the Hon Yahaya Buldoza, A Member representing Patigi/Moro/Edu /Lafiagi Federal Constituency at the Lower National Hallowed Chambers far Kwara State, as a Legislative Assistant.
This was where the source of his political sagacity and legislative experience were amassed. After a lull in the enthusiasm of the government, Omofaiye came to Ijumu where he entranced into councillorship contest representing Ekinrin Adde Ward that has the largest polling units in Ijumu LG and won landslide against his flawed OPPOSITION CANDIDATE. His disciplinary prowess qualified him to deputies the incumbent Algon Chairman Kogi State in person of Alh Taufiq A Isa as the Chief Whip in Ijumu Local Government Council. He became part of the team that reorganised the shackles set of legislative business in the Council.
I argue that Omofaiye is one of the most development conscious Parliamentarian of this time. This is exemplified by the issues, policies and ideas that drive every motion he moves in the Hallowed Chambers. He has moved plethora of motions in the present House of Assembly e.g “Having A State Owned Television Station”, etc. As the former Chairman House Committee On Works, Hon Ade Omofaiye has used his legislative influence to attracts dividends of democracy to Ijumu Constituency in which one of the projects he facilitated was Ekinrin Adde/Ife Olukotun Road presently under construction by the State Government. Another giant stride from the stable of this experience socialite and elite is his collaboration to work in line with the new direction thematic agenda under the leadership of ever performing Gov Yahaya Bello.
Further in his bid to educate the young citizens and stimulating economic interest in the state, he thought about
turning the state into sustainable education hub by distributing books and other writing materials across the secondary schools in Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency. This led to immense commendations from the parents and teachers, lauding the humanitarian gesture of this Ebullient Legislator.
Omofaiye is on another bill plan to launch industrialisation of Kogi State through investment in agriculture. History will remember Omofaiye as a visionary and people oriented enigma, who sets people’s interests on
the path for sustainable development.
Meanwhile, as a first term Parliamentarian in the State House of Assembly, Omofaiye has arguably lit the fire that is
consuming the malfeasance that has permeated Kogi State ‘farm vandalisation’ when he raised a motion to investigate the influx of the damage caused by Herdsmen to facilitate a lasting solution to the scourge of insecurity and this impetus rises Agricultural efficacy in the State. Omofaiye did not allow party affiliations to becloud his loyalty to the State, on this front as he encouraged his colleagues to dig into the matter.
Of course the achievements of Kogi State House of Assembly with the contributory roles the Chief Whip has deployed since the inception of this democratic dispensation is there for all to see. He has continued to dispense quality representation on behalf of the people, nudging the executive to work in the interest of the people, again in spite of party loyalty.
The acumen which he has employed into his engagements as an individual has continued to serve him well in
public service. It is the same acumen and the favour of the Almighty that selfless service to humanity engenders that will see this Christians Best Parliamentarian Of The Year through in the current competitive legislative assignments and sustain him through his days in the Hallowed Chambers.
