The Department of State Security Services has been described as Governor Yahaya Bello’s tool to fight the weak and oppressed in Kogi State.
In a statement issued in Lokoja, the Central Media Forum, condemned the arrest and detention of the publisher of The Policy and Lawmakers Magazine, Prince Friday Ogungbemi.
The statement signed by Omeiza Jimoh and Sadiku Usman, lamented the drawbacks in the oppression of Journalists in the state.
The Statement frowned at the unprofessional conduct of the DSS in the state, lamented that when the agency is not arresting civil servants, it is used to intimidate politicians who hold offices but faced with trump charges masterminded by some powerful forces in government.
The forum call for restraint from the state government, disclosing that its actions are reminiscent of the day’s of the military.
The forum while cautioning the DSS not to make itself a tool for use for the state government, urged the new administration in the state to embrace constructive criticism, noting that it helps breed good governance.
