In the world of Nigerian politics, the tactics and strategies of my party, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) will remain constantly at odds with each other.

While those if us in the APC were vigorously campaigning house to house and winning the soul and the hearts of Nigerians in 2015 presidential election, PDP were energetically searching and focused on digging up President Buhari’s 1962 WAEC result.

2023 was worse for PDP. While we in APC, not taking chances despite being the ruling party were campaigning tirelessly across the length and breadth of Nigeria, not taking Nigerians for granted, the PDP once again unadvisedly concentrated and directed its entire resources, energy and manpower towards Chicago, United States of America, thousands of kilometres away from the voters in Nigeria searching for the degree certification of Jagaban, a first-class graduate of Chicago university.

The political landscape in Nigeria is constantly evolving, with parties and party members constantly chameleoning and adapting to the most times unrealistic changing tides.

The actions and decisions of politicians can have far-reaching consequences, it is essential for a reasonable political party and members to remain vigilant and observant of the shifting dynamics within the political arena, to be true to oneself as we approach 2027.

In Kogi State, the stark contrast between APC and PDP was evident in both the 2015 and 2023 elections.

While APC were on the ground, campaigning relentlessly and tirelessly across the state, PDP stalwarts characteristically resorted to name calling and abuse, little wonder their abysmal failure.

The saying that a leopard never changes its spots may not be entirely accurate. A leopard’s spots fade away after its death. Similarly, in politics, alliances and loyalties can shift and change over time, as seen in the case of the PDP members in Kogi State.

When the APC emerged victorious in Kogi State in 2015 and again in 2023, many opportunistic PDP members threw party loyalty and principles to the wind, jumped ship from their party to cornered, reaped and still reaping the rewards of the result of the hard work APC members.

As true and loyal members of the party in Kogi State, we are closely watching the promising actions of Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo

– Hon. Musa Bakare is foundation member of APC since 2014.
