Umomi Killings: Police Arrests DPO, 6 Officers

In line with Governor Yahaya Bello’s directive to the Commissioner of Police, Kogi State, to fish out officers of the Nigerian Police Force involved in the killing of two protesters in Umomi, Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi State for proper investigation, a Divisional Police Officer and 6 other officers have been arrested in connection with the crisis.

Tragedy occurred in Umomi last week when two persons were short dead by triggered-happy police officers during a peaceful protest by the youth over unlawful arrest and detention of some members of the community by the police.

It was gathered that the community had a face-off with Fulani herdsmen who they claimed had caused destruction to their crops and soil which led to police invasion of the community.
