For every man and woman of my age, Pastor Onuche Alhassan is a household name. He grew up with us, some met him and outgrew him, some were born right in his face, yet they outgrew him. Despite his disability, he remained very faithful and very jovial.
A seemingly incomplete person we thought, but the fighter will be breaking history as he survives a major leg surgery. Both legs were operated and surprisingly, the crawling legend took to his feet. He went round the small Okabo community to show all that cares that the king is up. As he moves around, gift and prayers follows him. What did he do, he sacrifices his life to his faith. Onuche became like the head of the Church, he rings their bell, became a church crier. Because the rim is located right opposite my house, I wouldn’t miss the sound of his calling at every 5:00am and 1:00pm; he was very consistent.
Later he became a full blown unique preacher, when ever we woke up for Subh (Muslim morning Prayers), Onuche is already in the street quoting John, Paul, Nehemiah etc, funny enough, he will stay a little longer by the Masjid (Muslims prayer house) as if he must convert some of us that day. He earned a name from all of us “Pastor Onuche”.
A regular visitor to Hajia (My Mom) he was a funny person to be with; regardless his condition. He will come, stay, sometimes eat and move ahead.
I celebrate you sir. You remained a lesson to many, that in every condition, we must be grateful.
I salute you courage to fight your condition and turned it to opportunity. You have simply “WON”

You left a beautiful memory of you behind.
Rest on Sir. Rest on Pastor Onuche. Rest on my brother
