Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Matthew Kolawole has declared the readiness of the elected representatives on the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC) from the state, both at the National and State Assemblies, to purchase the Nomination and Expression of Interest Forms for Governor Yahaya Bello to contest the party primary.
The Speaker made this known at a stakeholders meeting held at the Party Secretariat in Lokoja with the representatives of the APC Governor’s Forum in attendance last week.
He said the Governor, through purposeful leadership has turned the party to a beautiful bride that Is now attractive to all sorts of aspirants.
“I want inform you that as the representatives of the people who won elections on the platform of APC, that is, the 2 Senators, 7 House of Representatives Members and 25 House Of Assembly Members elected on the platform of the party have unanimously resolved to procure the Nomination and Expression of Interest forms for our amiable and pragmatic Leader, Governor Yahaya Bello to contest the ticket of the party ahead of the Governorship Poll.
“Our decision was as a result of the manner Governor Yahaya Bello turned our party from one that was derailed by court actions that sacked our elected legislators at all levels, to one that has won every election since he took over.
“It will interest you to know that Governor Bello has strengthened the party and united the state to the admiration of our people.
“We want him to continue till 2024 and we have decided to throw our support behind him to ensure continuity of the new direction agenda that has transformed our dear state,” he said.
The speaker told the visiting Governors and the stakeholders at the meeting that Kogi is progressing under the leadership of the party, stressing that the party members and leaders know who deserve the party’s ticket.
