Toyin Akanle Mourns Amaechi’s CSO, Tony Iwelu

A former Assistant Director General DSS, Dr William Toyin Akanle has described the death of Tony Iwelu, Chief Security Officer to Rt Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, Minister for Transport, as shocking and unfortunate.

Dr. Akanle lamented that the life of such a dutiful officer, a rare breed and highly professional would be cut short at a time when his services was most needed.

Dr. Akanle described Tony Iwelu, who served under his Command when he was the State Director of Security in Rivers State, as a refined officer, adding that he is yet to come to terms with the sudden death of the CSO who died in Kaduna while on an official duty. 

“Tony Iwelu was a dutiful, hardworking, committed, unassuming and loyal officer. He was an officer who handles difficult tasks in meticulous manner, and was a result oriented officer.

“He will be greatly missed especially that the nation is desirous of having selfless officers and men in his mould to fight the nation’s growing insecurity,” he said.

The former Assistant Director General DSS consoled the immediate family of the deceased, the Minister for Transport and the nation for the loss of a vibrant and loyal officer whose kind are hard to come by.

Dr. Akanle urged the deceased family and those affected to be consoled by the indelible footprints of Toyin Iwelu.
