The Third Republic House of Representatives Forum (TRHRF) under the National Chairmanship of Hon. Chief Obi Anoliefo has conferred her honor on the former Governorship Candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Kogi State, Barr. Natasha Hadiza Akpoti as the ‘Face of Democracy’ in recognition of her humanitarian services and contribution to nation building.
Akpoti was honored alongside former Governor of Kano State, Sen. Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the Nigerian first lady, Mrs. Aisha Muhammadu Buhari, and MD Innoson Motor, Innocent Chukwuma.
Presenting the award of honour on behalf of the Forum, the Chairman of the occasion, Senator Jeremiah Useni described Natasha Akpoti as a product of third republic and a symbol of democracy in Nigeria.
Useni, represented by former Senate President Ibrahim Mantu, expressed overwhelming joy in meeting one powerful voice and influential figure he has heard and read a lot about.
In her acceptance remark, Akpoti thanked the third republic representatives for finding her worthy of the recognition. She dedicated the honor to the blessed memory of her father who was a third republic house of representatives member that contributed his might to the emergence and development of democracy in Nigeria through the Social Democratic Party.
Akpoti maintained that the ideology of SDP still remain the yet to be tapped potential for good governance in Nigeria, recalling the days of Chief MKO Abiola and other Nigerian heroes of democracy.
Other honourees include; the Inspector General of Police, Chief Justice of Nigeria, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senate President, Speaker, Governors of Borno, Rivers, Sokoto, Anambra, Kaduna and some Ministers.
