There is no politician in Kogi state today like Prince Abubakar Audu. Some claim to be walking in the Audu shoes but that’s extreme self deception.
Like I always tell people, Audu was a political institution on his own, the father of grassroot politics in Kogi state, one man political mopol on his own.
Late Prince Abubakar Audu (PhD) was in opposition all through his political life. He was in opposition from 1999 till opposition became the ruling party. Audu will not only introduce a new party, he will sponsor an opposition party to become a party of hope with strength to win election.
Audu will sponsor his minority parties from the national down to almost every polling unit in Kogi state.
In Kogi state today, I don’t know if any politician can sponsor a party. They can’t even take good care of their party in their own ward, talk less of local government area or state, but Audu have sponsored all the party he contested election, from APP to ANPP and ACN till the time APC was formed. He was the North Central leader of the APC. In fact, I am very aware that the national office of the APC was donated by Late Prince Abubakar Audu.
Today, all the capacities our self acclaimed politicians have is to hunt for party tickets and do nothing after.
If Audu is coming to a town or village, 3 days before his coming the town or village is alive and agog. The road that will take other politicians 3 minutes to pass will take Audu 3 hours or more to pass. Audu used many vehicles than them all, but he is not always inside his vehicles. Some of our politicians today will pass and we will not even noticed who passed, but Audu will stand in his car and be waving, he will be calling his followers by their names, the common man, for the common man.
For Audu to recognize you, that’s more than any money, this man made love manifest, true love, love beyond politics, his hands are not close, they is nobody that is close to Audu that does not have one or more feasible benefit or gain. Many of those close to him have their children working in many federal ministries and some abroad, he changes the cars of his key players, Audu’s hands were not close at all.
Don’t mind my language, that’s the way we were groomed in Kogi politics; our love people money, but that does not make them sell their conscience.
Our recent politicians today insult the masses, they claim the masses are after money. I want to ask one question, what’s the politician after, if you are not ready for Kogi politics, please trafficate and pack, late Prince Abubakar Audu fought for Kogi state, he fought for the Igala land, we love him.
No politician can be like Late Prince Abubakar Audu, we have not seen any, no Kogi born politician can fit into the shoes of Prince Abubakar Audu. Some of these politicians are happy Audu is no more, hence we now have more than 10 persons seeking to become Governor in Kogi. When Audu was alive, many of them will entertain questions from him.
May God continue to bless Audu even in his death. He came into politics to set a paradigm and that he has done successful.
