The Special Adviser to Kogi State Governor, Captain Idris Wada on Media and Strategy, Mr. Jacob Edi, has dismissed the allegations of the governor’s involvement in the alleged impeachment plot and described them as “untrue and a figment of the imagination of those peddling them.”
He denied knowledge of any impeachment move against the speaker by his boss.
“I am not aware of any impeachment attempt against the Honourable Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Alhaji Abdullahi Bello. Those who are alleging this must be able to provide proofs. What I can see is a robust relationship between His Excellency, the Speaker and the entire House,” he said.
On alleged financial inducement, Edi said: “The state is in need of funds for developmental projects, the governor will never waste resources to impeach the speaker. He is even too occupied with his drive to take the state to the next level, rather than engage himself with issues that cannot translate into rapid development for the state and the people. As you may know, fund is of essence to the development of the state. Those who know Wada would tell you that he is neither loose nor extravagant with money. So where is the money to throw around all in the name of impeachment?”
Considering the fact that the speaker has survived three previous impeachment attempts and the outright denial by the executive that it was not behind the plot, the question begging for answer is: who wants the speaker out and for what reason? Who is financing the plots? What would the consequence be for the state and the future of the PDP even if it succeeds eventually?
