Nigeria politicians are perhaps the greatest con men alive. This conclusion wasn’t born out of malice rather it is from the standpoint of series of established behavior.
One certain time, a journalist dared to inquire from a certain known political figure if it was ok to know who was bankrolling him. That question pulled the wrong trigger so much so that he was called an idiot on live TV. I laugh, indeed when Former President Olusegun Obasanjo described a certain man from the north as a smart fellow whose drive comes only from self-interest, I thought he was only throwing a light jab but now, I know for sure that he was right.
Everyone claims to hear God. Even a prostitute sometimes prays to the one above for customers. You see, our God is a merciful and he is slow to anger. This man is eloquent. In fact, I think that he is one of the best public speaker to have been born in Nigeria. Watching him provide reasons as to why he needed to switch camp from the People’s Democratic Party to the All Progressive Congress is in fact very rhetoric.
Personally, I think con men speak with both sides of the mouth. In my theatre of study, I have come to the conclusion that the claim by most political leaders especially those from the Nigerian specie is that they are driven by the need to help self instead of the people. They understand that the people are usable devices to get power.
For the gullible minds, it is so easy to think that they mean what they say. Once they become Gov. or Distinguished Mr. Dr. Ade Ali Chidi, they automatically journey in complete luxury bankrolled by tax payers money. Often times, they vacation in wonderland under the guise of medication and what have you.
No way! I have since decided not to believe whatever comes out from the vocal cavity of the regular Nigerian politicians because they are noting but oceans of lies. Don’t get me wrong. I am not in any way vexed by the decisions people make. But then, to call the people fool all of the time is a big No for me. And so, I beg to disagree that the APC or the PDP hasn’t changed.
Whatever we see at the moment clearly gives root to the age long adage that says; There are no permanent friends or enemies when it concerns politicians. However, I also want to add that people can say stuff such as “I’d rather die than join the APC” and then turn around to start the process of building bridge.
Indeed, our politicians are top notch film makers and even though I revered Kemi Adetiba for delivering King of Boys, I think that she should have consulted the Former minister to teach her some more tricks.
