Kogi State has been called upon to improve on its quest to reposition the welfare of primary school teachers in the state.
The chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) Idah Chapter, Comrade Mohammed Alih, made the call in a chat with The Graphic in Idah.
Comrade Ali decried a situation where salaries are still paid late while many of the teacher’s names are omitted from the pay roll. He noted that the situation is currently a big source of concern to the teachers in the State.
The Union leader said he is grateful to Capt Idris Wada’s positive moves in improving the education sector. He however said the teachers expect more from the governor to enable them enjoy more of the dividends of democracy as they carry out their daily assignment.
On his achievement in office, Comrade Ali said he has improved the social welfare of workers adding that he has been able to put in place a rental canopies and chairs which is currently a source of revenue for the union.
Comrade Ali also called on teachers not to lose hope on their profession. He further told them to keep praying for an improvement on their welfare.
