A non-governmental organization, Tiny Beating Hearts Initiative (TBHI) has commended the Administrator of Lokoja Local Government Area, Hon Shiru Lawal for taking steps to improve maternal and child health in the local government.
In a press release signed by Petr Akinti-Onyegbule, TBHI stated the Administrator’s intervention will aid better healthcare delivery system in the LGA.
Shiru, on Monday, donated stethoscopes, blood pressure apparatus, weighing scales and drugs to Primary Health Centres in all ten wards that make up Lokoja LGA.
The drugs are to be given free to pregnant women and children.
“As an Organisation whose focus is on improved maternal and child health, we at Tiny Beating Hearts Initiative commend Hon. Shiru Lawal and hope that this will not be a one-off gesture as the health of women and children are critical to the development of any society.
“We do hope that as we launch TBHI’s Making Every Beating Heart Count (MEBH-Count), a grassroot awareness project in Lokoja, the Lokoja Local Government Administration will lend support to the project.
“Health care is a collective responsibility and together we can achieve more,” the statement read.
