The Executive Chairman of Yagba West local government council of Kogi state, Hon. Pius Kolawole has called on the citizens and relevant stakeholders, domiciled at home and in diaspora, to take ownership of their local government through effective partnership with the government as his administration strives to implement policies and programs of economic benefits to the people the council.
In a statement through his media assistant, Toba Abraham, the Executive Chairman called on all relevant stakeholders to have confidence and trust in his administration as he is determined to change the bad narratives of the past, ensuring that public interest and not personal interest top his priority.
Kolawole revealed that since assumption of office he has continued to engage various groups and tribes in Yagba West local government with a view to ensuring public participation.
“We have continued to engage the traditional rulers, security agents, farmers, herders, artisans, students and women.
“Also engaged are religious bodies like Christian Association of Nigeria, the Muslims Society of Nigeria, the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, the physically challenged persons, workers and other relevant bodies with a view to ensuring that everybody is carried along and enlightened on our policies and programs.
“We are doing this in fulfilment of our promise to run a transparent, people’s oriented and all inclusive administration where every citizens and residents of Yagba West local government is considered important,” he said.
The council chairman further explained that though he is holding forth leadership of the local government in trust for the citizens, he acknowledges that the ultimate powers resides in God and the people.
He stated that it has become very important for people of Yagba West origin to join hands with him in the re-building process.
He appealed to the people to be optimistic in the future of Yagba West, given the enormity of potentials and her abundant opportunities and possibilities.
Pius reiterated his commitment to the enthronement of democratic principles and good governance, which according to him will help to restore public confidence back in political leadership.
He expressed displeasure over why Yagba West indigenes would choose to allow both human and natural resource endowment across the length and breath of the local government council lying fallow or taking over entirely by foreigners, describing Yagba West as the only local government in Kogi state with uninterrupted power supply, with relative peace, improved security and large land mass which by far has made it one of the most investment friendly local governments in Nigeria
The Executive Chairman, who explained that Yagba West is endowed with huge deposit of mineral resources like gold, tantalite, limestone among others, urged the citizens to invest in the mining sector.
He noted that with the raining season approaching, agricultural and allied services is another big profitable investment opportunity in Yagba West.
He promised that the government will provide enabling environment for business to thrive, assured prospective investors of his administration’s support.
