Kogi Union of Tailors, Old Market Lokoja zone, has inducted twenty youths empowered with sowing and knitting skills.
State Chairman, Comrade Danjuma Sulaiman said the union decided to train the youths in a bid to reduce the high rate of unemployment in Lokoja local government.
At the induction ceremony in Lokoja on Wednesday, Danjuma said the beneficiaries were trained for one year, free o charge.
He said the high rate of unemployment in Lokoja informed the KUT’s decision to initiate the programme to address the menace in a very practical way by equipping the youths which consist of both males and females with professional skills.
“Addressing unemployment should not be left for government alone at this time. That is why the union decided to begin the programme from old market Zone, while other zones will follow later,” he said.
Good will messeges were delivered by member of BOT, Alhaji Alfa Tailor; woman leader of the union, Hajiya Asabe Nalado; Zonal Chairman, Malam Umar Yusuf mairiga and representative of Hikimi of ward D, Mallam Isah Nasidi among others.
