A yet to be apprehended vandal suspected to be a staff of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) in Kogi State has allegedly vandalized electricity installation in Kabba area of the state.
Following the sad event which occurred around 2am in the early hours of Tuesday, our reporter gathered that the vandal is allegedly a staff that is known to maintain the facility. He was seen at the wee hours of the day tampering with the installation.
The information made available to our reporter confirmed that the person had already removed the armoured cable that connects electricity to the residents of the area where Member representing Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Hon. Tajudeen Yusuf and Mr Kolade Otitonaiye resides before coming to the transformer to dismantle it.
It took the intervention of the security guard at the Silver Valley College in the hospital area of Kabba metropolis to chase away the robber who mistakenly left his apron which is known to many people in the area.
It will be recalled that such incidents has been happening in Kabba metropolis and environs with over 10 transformers installation destroyed and amour cable carted away leaving such areas without electricity supply for up to 9 to 12 months before the residents of the area will gather money to buy another amour cable to replace the stolen ones.
Some of the residents who confirmed such vandalization said such criminal acts cannot be achieved without someone who possess requisite knowledge in the field, hence the staff of the company are culpable in the act.
They enjoined the management of the company to purge themselves of bad eggs within the system as such act will give the company bad name, stressing that the person responsible for the latest criminal act at Silver Valley should be uncovered since he left his apron that people know him with at the site.
