The Kogi state coordinator of Subsidy Re-investment And Empowerment Programme, SURE-P, Alhaji Abdullahi Ohioma said 3,000 unemployed women and youths have been absorbed by the scheme.
Ohioma who stated this yesterday in Lokoja at a press briefing said N210 million have been disbursed to the participants of the programme in the state
According to him, 24 beneficiaries from the state have also been trained in Jos, Plateau state by the federal government on skills acquisition and other vocational trainings as part of the exit plan strategy for beneficiaries adding that each participant was given N150,000 to augment whatever they might have saved to start something on their own.
The coordinator said the programme is also partnering with Local governments in the state to make available land to engage the beneficiaries in agricultural activities which forms part of the skill acquisition training that will add value to the beneficiaries at the end of the programme.
“We also engaged them to learn other vocational jobs they think they are best fitted for; like tailoring, barbing, repair of handsets, printing, auto mechanic, hair dressing and so many others”, he said.
