Contrary to rumours making rounds, Obaro of Kabba, HRM Oba Solomon Owoniyi (Otitoleke Oweyomade 1) remains on the throne of his ancestors.
The Supreme Court Judgement that returned Obaro chieftaincy litigation to Kogi State High Court for adjudication fueled rumours that Oba Solomon Owoniyi has been removed from office as the Obaro of Kabba by apex court.
A statement signed by Obaro of Kabba’s counsel, Dayo Akinlaja SAN and released to newsmen in Lokoja on Saturday, urged Owe and the entire Kogi public to disregard the rumour being circulated that the Obaro has been judicially dethroned, pointing out that the rumour was evil and mischievous falsehoods.

He explained that when the suit was instituted to challenge Oba Owoniyi’s appointment, preliminary objection to its competence was raised based on jurisdiction and it was upheld.
“However, the Supreme Court averred that Kogi State High Court has the jurisdiction to hear the suit instituted by the claimants and therefore directed that the suit be remitted to High Court in Kogi State for hearing on merit,” he explained.
The legal luminary explained that the position of the apex court is that the case should be heard on merit rather than on technical ground.
“The issue of the removal of Oba Owoniyi does not arise in any form or shape.
“The entire Owe people should be made to understand or realize that Oba Solomon Owoniyi remains the Obaro and all mischief makers peddling the contrary are only living in the fool’s paradise,” he said.
The counsel prayed God that Obaro Owoniyi shall reign long on the throne of his forebearers.
