The Divisional Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Dekina Local Government, Alhaji Sani Umoru (Dr.Hook) has berated the leadership of All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Local Government over what he termed politics of deceit and lies.
The Chairman, while reacting the recent media report by handlers of the APC that over 49000 members of PDP are defecting to the APC, said the media strategy of the APC is insincere and the height of deceit to the good people of Dekina Local Government.
According to the Chairman: “information available to us shows from the event on Saturday shows that people who defected are not even up to 20 contrary to the earlier claim of 49000. This development is a very bad omen for our democracy. A situation where you tell lies to hoodwink unsuspecting public to score cheap political points and popularity is a very bad one”
While he acknowledged the rights of individual to association and political affiliation, he said it is however appalling that APC as party that has failed in fulfilling its electoral promises to the masses has resorted to lies to gain popularity.
He further stated that APC is only a visitor in Dekina Local Government.
“When you know when a visitor will be leaving your house you can be able to tolerate him or her for a while. We have a video clip of the entire APC ceremony yesterday in Dekina to show the entire world how deceitful APC is in Kogi state.
He wished all the decampees the best in their new platform and reiterating his commitment to restoration of the lost glory of PDP in the Dekina Local Government and the state at large.
He urged them to return to party anytime they feel like, adding that the umbrella of the PDP under his leadership is big enough to accommodate all diverse interests.
“I urge all the party faithfuls not to be intimidated by a rented crowd drama that played out on Saturday, Dekina Local Government is a PDP local government and will remain so,” he asserted.
