The Igala tribe located in the Niger-Benue confluence area of Nigeria has been subject to various stereotypes and misconceptions.
Some of these includes;-
A-Misconceptions of Igala people as solely fishermen while some Igala communities are indeed fishermen others are farmers and their economy is diversified.

Confusing with Neighbouring tribes.
The Igala people share cultural and linguistic similarities with neighbouring tribes like Igbo, Yoruba, and Hausa leading to misconceptions about their distinct identity.
Limited understanding of Igala culture.
The rich cultural heritage of the Igala people including Thier traditions,Language ,and spirituality practice is not well represented in the mainstream discourse.
Assumptions about Igala History.
The history of the Igala people is often interwined with that of other tribes leading to misconceptions about Thier origins and development.

Cultural events and festivals.
Organise cultural events and festivals that showcase Igala tradition,music,and Arts promoting cross -cultural understanding and appreciations .
Language preservation
Develop and promote lexical resources such as dictionaries and language learning materials to preserves the Igala language and promote it’s study.
Traditional language documentations
Document traditional knowledge in areas like medicine, Agriculture and craftsmanship to ensure its continuation and promote sustainability .
Community Engagement
Engage with Igala community members, leaders and organization’s to amplify Thier voices and promotes Thier cultural heritage .
Education and awareness.
Develop educational programs and materials that highlights the history ,culture and contributions of the Igala people, promoting awareness and understanding among broader audience.
