The senator representing Kogi West senatorial district at the National Assembly, Senator Smart Adeyemi, has donated 24 ambulances and hospital equipment to hospitals in the seven local governments of his senatorial district.
He also gave out 24 cars and commissioned 100 locked up shops for market women in the district. Making the presentation on Monday at Iyara in Ijumu LGA of the state, Senator Adeyemi said the ambulances and the hospital equipment would be distributed to hospitals across his senatorial district while the vehicles would be given to traditional rulers and others in the district.
“The medical equipment such as X-ray machines, incubators, sophisticated medical apparatus, furnishing and other supplies will benefit the constituents. I assure you that I will not betray the mandate given to me,” he said.
Adeyemi said the donations were as a result of his desire to reduce mortality and enhance access to speedy and quality healthcare services, adding that he wants a situation where there is at least one ambulance within every locality of 15 minutes drive apart within the district.
Kogi State Governor Idris Wada commended the senator for complimenting government’s effort to ensure access to healthcare delivery.
