We have been silent on the activities of the lawmaker representing Ajaokuta state constituency for long, hoping he would change his ways. However, we are wrong to believe Hon. Hassan Abdullahi Bello Balogun can change. His case looks irredeemable.

We have not felt the essence of his representation in the House of Assembly since he was inaugurated in June 2015 along with his colleagues. We read about the achievements of other legislators like Hon. Lawi AT Ahmed of Okene I constituency, Hon. Rabiu Alfa of Ankpa II constituency, the Speaker who represents Kabba/Bunu state constituency, Rt. Hon. Umar Imam of Lokoja I and others in the 6th Assembly. Why is our own different?

We were appalled when our legislator in Ajaokuta slapped the local government Administrator in broad daylight. The young Administrator did not respond to the unwarranted assault on his person because he is more matured than Hassan Abdullahi Bello Balogun. We are also not unaware of the ignoble role he played when thugs invaded the hallowed chambers on August 1, 2017. He moves around with thugs with reckless abandon, bringing so much shame to us as a people. The recent disruption of plenary by our legislator is most regrettable. Is he the only one in the governor’s inner caucus? Hon. Ahmed Ahmed is more committed to the governor’s cause but was not unruly during the sitting. Why is our man so uncultured?  We even learnt he stormed the Assembly after getting high, this is unbecoming of a legislator!

We wish to state clearly that Hassan Abdullahi Bello Balogun’s despicable acts is at variance with the culture and tradition of the good people of Ajaokuta local government area. We have produced quality lawmakers that represented us in the Kogi State Assembly with sterling performances.  The current representation is an anomaly and we sincerely apologise to Kogites for the reckless representation of our current lawmaker in the Assembly.

Past and present legislators from Ajaokuta local government like Hon. Moses Ado Okino and Hon. Lawal Idris are cool headed and has never been seen engaging in despicable acts. We regret sending Hassan Abdullahi Bello Balogun to the State Assembly and we assure Kogites that we will not repeat this mistake in 2019.
