The Kogi State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has advised Directors and Treasurers of the various local government councils in the state not to circumvent NFIU policy, warned against signing cheques allegedly requested for by Gov. Yahaya Bello for contractors and go to jail.

The PDP in a statement signed by Bode Ogunmola, State Publicity Secretary, said the party has it on good authority that the Directors and Treasures who are presently on the run, are under pressure against their wish to sign contractors cheques, urged them to be mindful, else go to jail.

The PDP noted that the DLGs and Treasurers are under pressure to sign cheques due for contractors with monies meant for salaries. Ogunmola warned that the party has beamed its search light on councils and would ensure that any corrupt practices to circumvent the NFIU policy would be reported to the EFCC.

The party lamented a situation where contractors are forced on local government areas and administrators. He said the selection of contractors and contracts didn’t follow and meet due process. He warned that any DLG, Treasurer who tries to circumvent the policy would have him or herself to blame.

The PDP equally frowned at the attacks, intimidation and arrests of labour Union leaders and workers at the local government areas following their call for payment of salaries.

The PDP pointed out that it is unfortunate that labour Union who are out to hold peaceful congress would be arrested, manhandled, beaten and stripped naked in Okehi, Adavi, Mopa Amuro and Yagba West by sponsored thugs.

He called for their immediate release and full payment of their salaries.
