The Chief Administrator of Lokoja Local Government Area, Hon. Shiru Lawal, has expressed shock over the death of Alhaji Mahmud Umar Maku, a community leader and father of Abdulmalik Umar, a legal practitioner.
The Chairman made the remarks while speaking with this reporter at the 7 day fidau prayers of the late community leader.
Hon Shiru described the deceased as a man who sacrificed all he had for the community in particular and Lokoja Local Government Area in general.
He stated that Baba’s death left a void that cannot be easily filled.
“I received the news of the demise of Baba with shock. His demise, no doubt, leaves a void that cannot be filed easily,” Shiru said.
In his tribute, Alhaji Sulaiman Baba, who spoke on behalf Danko Development Forum (DDF) said the late Baba Maku was an inspiration for many especially the downtrodden, adding that his memory and legacy will linger on till eternity.
Barde Sulaiman also commiserated with the family of the late Maku, most especially his wife, and children.
He urged the family to take heart and accept the will of God over the shocking death of late Alhaji Maku, who he described as a father, husband and community leader just as he prayed to Allah (SWT) to grant the departed soul Al-Jannah Firdaus (the best abode in Paradise).
The fidau prayers which took place at Shaba-yagi residence of the deceased has sympathisers in and outside the state in attendance.
