Once he appeared in the Lokoja polity, many quickly mistook him for a neophyte. Even when we chided them to change their evaluation of his person, they tagged us names and threw our advice to the winds. We saw it coming and it didn’t take long before the veiled treasures of his real virtues emerged, it swept through the land of Lokoja local government like a tornado, infecting and affecting the people, young and old.
Women were the first tandem who saw the bright star of Hon Shiru Lawal, just like the biblical evidence during the resurrection of (Isa) Jesus Christ; the women were the first to behold the resurrected Jesus and announced him to the world.
Even after women had seen this bright star of Shiru, the elders were acting just like the biblical Thomas who wanted to put his fingers in the nailing wounds in the arms of (Isa)Jesus Christ, but the youths acted wisely, they saw it and embraced it as the women before the elders passed their fingers through the holes created by the crucifixion nail, they not only became believers of Hon Shiru Lawal but followers of his mission and vision to govern the local government.
Today the name of Hon Shiru Lawal is like a popular chorus on every lip, both the young and old have made him their song in all the nook and crannies of the local government. The people have now realised that they have a man with the brain capacity the will change the status quo of their common society.
The people of Lokoja local government are all galvanised in hope that there is a chairman in waiting that will make Lokoja local government small scale private sector driven, likewise creating empowerment through skills acquisition centre’s and creation of jobs through industrialization.
They are enthusiastic and restless praying and wishing they could move the hands of the clock faster, while enjoying Hon Shiru Lawal ’s uncommon social and infrastructure in the New Direction one after the other. The construction and renovations of blocks of Class rooms in Lokoja | and || constituency was one of those mega projects of Shiru Lawal which many pundits thought will be a fluke, but they forgot that in the history of his administration there are no abandoned projects.
After the classrooms, the people of Lokoja local are still waiting to take delivery of others mega projects from Hon Shiru Lawal, like the office of Maigari of Lokoja and many more ,which the administrator have said are in various stages of completion. While they are curiously waiting on Hon Shiru Lawal to deliver on those mega projects , they entire local government is agog awaiting the election and the swearing in of the leader they have tagged the ‘’Talk And Do’’. Why do they call him the talk and do? I once asked an elder from Ward c, He described Shiru Lawal as a man who is handsome, highly intelligent, garnished with virtues of humility, honesty and above all he is God fearing man.
The district head qualified him as a moving computer, while the Maigari of Lokoja sees Shiru as a man with an overwhelming track record of performance and prudency , he said local government Area at this crucial time of development needs a man with investment exposure. Among all who are aspiring to govern the local government , Shiru Lawal is the only leader with a huge history of driven developmental projects.
Former Councillors across Lokoja local government has declared there support for the 2018-2019 chairmanship aspiration of the Incumbent administrator. The association of former councilors declared there support for Hon Shiru Lawal describing him as “the next chairman of lokoja local government ”. They praised Shiru for his mature conduct in canvassing and bringing people to the party and noted that his overwhelming antecedence is responsible for their support.
Another Political Stalwart Yakamata said that Shiru has the expertise to deliver good governance. He revealed that Shiru had been involved in the development of Lokoja local government over time. He said that Shiru is one of the persons who facilitated and made it possible for the water circulation in traditional areas of Lokoja. Yakamata concluded by saying that his support for Shiru Lawal is “Unchallengeable, irreversible and sacrosanct”. As there is no vacancy for any other aspirant for the office of chairman come 2018-2019.
Meanwhile other stakeholders in Lokoja stated that they refused to personally receive other aspirants because they did not hear from God as the right persons for the chairmanship position in 2018-2019 but that they had to personally come out to support Hon Shiru and the New Direction government because God had revealed to them that he was the ordained.
They said when they asked God why he chose Hon Shiru Lawal , they were told that there is something in Shiru that will make him empower the people of Lokoja local government and lift the local to a higher pedestal which will cause rejoicing among the people and the days of suffering will be over totally. They stated that any king who does not hear from God cannot be said to have been enthroned by God. While anointing Shiru, the stakeholders said when they blessed Hon Yabagi Bologi and Late B Usman, they all became chairman’s and there is blessing and anointing Shiru as the next chairman of Lokoja local government.
A one time former commissioner in the local government said he has remained neutral, He noted that since the political consultation doors opened, he has been consulted by over five aspirants from the local government who are qualified and competent to seek the office of the chairman. He however said, Shiru Lawal showed exceptional brilliance, intellect and competent that cannot be ignored because he has been facing governance and not distracted by any aspirations.
The elders, youths, women of Lokoja local government have spoken. The people of Lokoja have agreed to support one man as the next chairman of the local government. He is qualified, able and ready.
History is waiting to happen and the people have found a phenomenal leader.
