The Administrator of Lokoja Local Government, Alhaji Shiru Lawal has urged the youths to be at the centre-stage in the development of Lokoja Local Government and Kogi state at large.
Shiru made the call when he received the Executives Members of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN Lokoja LG Chapter in his office.
The Council Boss who commends the forum for the visit,pointed out that: “the survival of any nation is dependent on the active utilization and engagement of the youths in mainstream developmental activities particularly when the youths are coordinated with a common goal”
He described the National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN, as ” vehicle through which the voice of the youth could be heard in decision making in the country, Kogi State and Lokoja in particular”.
The administrator explained that the administration of Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello, has demonstrated its concern for the youths, evident in the appointment of members of his cabinets, aides and Local government administrators amongst the youths and urged youths to rally round the present administration new direction policy ,which according to him,contains a “youths oriented blueprint”
He pledge the council support to the council despite the financial constraints currently facing the local government.
Earlier, the President of NYCN Lokoja Local Govt Chapter, Comrade Abdullahi Adamu, congratulate the Administrator on his appointment.
He explained that their visit was meant to formerly familiarized the Executives and intimate him of the forthcoming celebration of National Youth Day which is usually organised by the state in collaboration with the Local Government Council.
A former member of the council, Hon Usman Muhammed Yakamata, commended the leadership of National Youth Council Of Nigeria
Yakamata who is currently serving in Shiru cabinet pointed out further that:”When we were members of the forum no doubt, we achieved a lot but today you have tremendously built on our past records and I’ll join the Administrator and other team members to support you”. he said.
