Chairman of Nigeria National League, NNL side, Kogi United FC, Abdul Adama has expressed satisfaction over his team’s 5-1 bashing of Spotlight FC from Katsina in the Week 14 encounter on Wednesday, believing that the victory would spur them on to do better this season.
It was the first time in the league Kogi United would score more than two goals in Lokoja which also came on the heels of grabbing their first away point in the league.
The five goals came from different scorers which further confirmed the Wada Boys as a force to reckon with in the league.
Aminu Abdulkadir opened the flood gate of goals in the 4th minutes of the game before Olaitan Adebayo doubled the lead for the Wada Boys eight minutes later which gave them a comfortable half time lead.
The three other goals came in the second half through Nura Rabiu, Jemilu Coker and Osas Eghe.
While describing the victory as the best so far, Adama noted that Kogi United should approach all matches as they come with same determination and focus.
“I’m very happy with this victory, it has shown that we are getting better. This is the best performance so far. We will enjoy this moment but with better focus as we also have a match on Saturday. We want to approach games as we see them, said Adama.
Technical Adviser of Spotlight FC, Abdullahi Heyman admitted that Kogi United were better team of the game adding that his boys were taken unaware with the Wada Boys’ style of play.
“Though they deserved the victory, congratulations to Kogi United”, Said Heyman. But I believe we could have done better. My players showed too much respect for them. The way Kogi Utd played was too difficult for us to play as you can see they were getting more of the balls, we were exposed too much and we hope to make corrections in our next game”, said Heyman.
With the victory, Kogi United now have 22 points from 14 matches, and they will next make a trip to Abuja where they will face TEAP FC on Saturday.
