The secretariat of Adavi Local Government Area recently went agog with jubilant spectators when about 158 autonomous communities under the aegis of Adavi Joint Community Development Association conferred a prestigious award on Senator Yakubu Oseni representing Kogi Central Senatorial District.

For the people of Adavi and other constituents of Senator Oseni, it was a tripartite celebration as penultimate award ceremony day which coincided with the memorable birthday of Adavi LG Chairman, Hon. Joseph Salami Omuya, and the 30th year celebration of the state’s creation and Governor Yahaya Bello’s indelible achievements in his six years of stewardship that had the people rolled out drums in the spirit of celebration.

Dubbed ‘Award for an Outstanding Legislation’, Alhaji Oseni Aliyu who led the association revealed that the entire community could no longer hide their admiration for the unprecedented and effectual inputs of the lawmaker in the affairs of Kogi Central and Nigeria at large. Alhaji Aliyu’s oration undoubtedly captured the mood of the constituents who aside Senator Oseni’s numerous tactile projects spatially located across the five Local Government Areas of Kogi Central Senatorial District, expressed satisfaction that the constituency has found its voice again at the National Assembly.

The leader of the joint association was reportedly quoted as saying; “Kogi Central Senatorial District found its voice again at the National Assembly with the charismatic leadership of Senator Yakubu Oseni and this manifested in relevant motions and bills he has sponsored at the Red Chamber. We believe that a true leader like  Senator Oseni deserves all the honours and awards he could garner from his people.

“Therefore, it is in a special recognition and gratitude for his exemplary representation in National Assembly and dogged fight for true development of Kogi Central that we deemed it imperative to honour him as a token of our appreciation.”

Though the 158 Adavi communities have trailed the blaze of award for the humane legislator, constituents from the other four local government areas of his constituency (Okehi, Ajaokuta, Okene, and Ogori/Magongo) thronged the venue of the event to once again catch a glimpse of their leader who they said has unprecedentedly identified with them at the grassroots.

The soaring popularity of Senator Yakubu Oseni across his constituency and repeated nudging on him by many pressure groups to make his 2023 political ambition known is not unconnected with his achievements in the Senate in the first two years in office. For the people, they are once again wooed by the lawmaker’s special love for them and the rapid development of the LG areas. It is indeed special love for his people that made Senator Oseni went through thick and thin, pursued and lobbied for establishment of Nigeria Steel University, Ajaokuta whose bill after scaling through various legislative scrutinies now awaits presidential assent. The immediate and latent benefits the entire people of

Kogi State will derive from this proposed university is unimaginable when it comes on board.

As a Nigeria political leader with foresight on how to revive the ailing economy, Senator Oseni had earlier submitted during a plenary that “Nigeria’s aspiration to  become one of the  industrialized and developed  countries  of  the  world  can  only  be actualized  through  a  relevant,  functional  and  quality  education  system especially in sectors bordering on the economy. From the foregoing, you can deduce that this bill for establishment of Nigeria Steel University, Ajaokuta is pertinent to two important aspects of our national life which are education and economy.

When ovation was at its crest for Senator Yakubu Oseni and his colleagues at the senate for speedy approval of Nigeria Steel University, Ajaokuta, the lawmaker once again attracted the attention of Nigerians on the need for special recognition and benefits for solid minerals producing states with yet another bill entitled ‘Solid Minerals Producing Areas Development Commission’. This bill which seeks equivalent of special status, recognition and allocation that always accrue oil producing states in the federation has scaled second reading.

Is anybody still at sea as to why a gamut of 158 autonomous communities under the aegis of Adavi Joint Community Development Association conferred a prestigious award on this phenomenal leader? Hell no! Women and youths praised him. Beneficiaries of his vocational and ICT trainings thronged to touch him. People from Upogoro/Agassa where he constructed feeder roads with side drainages and bridges came for appreciation.

Parents and teachers of Government Girls Day Secondary School (GGDSS) Otutu Okene where Senator Oseni built e-learning centre with set of computers, power generating set and industrial printer came for a ‘thank you visit’. For giving them motorised borehole, well equipped e-learning centre, people from Usungwe community and Eika Ohizenyi in Okehi Local Government Area showed appreciation. The catalogue of course, is endless!

Amidst the accolades, the modest man of the moment promised to do more. While he pledged to deepen his efforts in reducing unemployment especially among the youths, Senator Oseni with the highest sense of humility urged communities that are yet to feel his presence in terms of project execution to be more patient.

The Senator’s appeal was contained in his appreciation message to the Adavi Joint Community Development Association thus: “To my wonderful people of Ihima, Okengwe, Obehira and other communities that are yet to receive my presence in terms of project execution, I appreciate your patience. However, I still crave for more of your patience as some of the earmarked projects in your locality are captured in this year’s budget which is still under implementation while work will commence in some locations very soon.

“As before and always, I covet your continuous prayers while I persevere in lobbying for more Federal Government projects, jobs and empowerment schemes for the constituency. My resolve to appropriately meet our collective needs as constituency has never waned, for that is the singular reason you graciously gave me the mandate to represent you at the National Assembly.

“I want to sincerely appreciate my youthful and resourceful brothers and sisters who after graduation from their various schools are in struggle for survival. I will never relent in my efforts to secure jobs for you guys. I feel your pains orchestrated by the pangs of joblessness each time I have many of you around me. Life is hinged on hope and I oblige you never to loose hope because your period of job hunting will soon end.

“I have gone to many ministries and submitted your CVs for any opportunity. While some of the submissions have yielded positive responses with employment opportunities, others are yet to. I will continue to follow up on those that are yet to materialise.”

Indeed, he surely need the collective prayers and support of his constituents to succeed. He is known for his largeheartedness and which by inferences, he has maintained in the last two years in office as Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
