In his quest to support small scale business operators across his constituency, the Senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Senator Yakubu Oseni has once again empowered over 600 entrepreneurs with start up capital.
The beneficiaries, comprising of youths and women drawn from the five local government areas of his constituency, were on Thursday given the fund after series of seminars on business success skills.
Senator Oseni, who ably represented by his Chief of Staff, Alhaji Aliyu Bello, argued that to have a stable economic prosperity in an area, there is an urgent and continuous need to empower small and medium scale entrepreneurs.
“Our present economic woes is partly as a result of dearth of robust and productive small business owners. While many folded up because of unfavourable economic realities and policies, some went into oblivion as a result of poor management skills on the part of the owners.
“So, we are not only giving fund, we are impacting some reasonable business skills that would assist entrepreneurs to sustain the business even in the face of harsh economic realities and this will continue till the very end of the administration,” he said.
The lawmaker who reiterated his support for the presidential bid of Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, expressed optimism that Yahaya Bello presidency would expeditiously streamline all previous business encumbrances in order to pave way for sustainable wealth creation in the country.
Some of the beneficiaries who spoke at the end of the empowerment programme were elated for another opportunity for a fresh beginning in their respective businesses, adding that aside the fund, they have had deep insight and enlightenment on how business could be groomed to boom in all circumstances.
While commending the lawmaker for persistent act and show of benevolence, Hon. Malik Standard attested that Senator Yakubu Oseni’s drive for community development is unprecedented.
He noted that from projects execution to empowerment schemes, the lawmaker has been very calculative and strategic in his resolve to write his name in gold in the history of Kogi Central Senatorial District.
“Senator Oseni is a leader in his own class. He has been very unique in all his empowerment programme and projects implementation. The benefits of most of his constituency projects will definitely linger beyond his tenure as Senator. May Almighty God strengthen him the more to attract more dividends of democracy to his constituency,” he prayed.
