It is undeniable that education forms the backbone of every developed society, and the best contribution any leader can make is ensuring that everyone has access to quality education. This philosophy has driven the lawmaker representing Kogi Central senatorial district, Distinguished Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, as she works tirelessly to elevate educational standards for the people of her constituency.

In a remarkable step toward this goal, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan has recently provided 5,000 digital learning devices for public primary and secondary schools in Kogi Central, and amplified her resolve to promote quality education. This initiative, she emphasized during the unveiling ceremony at Abdul Aziz Attah Memorial College (AAAMCO), aims not only to supply these schools with devices but also to install them with the latest Nigerian curriculum from UBEC, along with globally recognized educational applications used by students around the world to help towards the realization of smart schools in her district.

These devices will give students hands-on experience with digital tools, allowing them to explore complex topics interactively and build digital literacy from an early age. Rather than just imagining or reading about scientific concepts, students will now be able to zoom in on detailed images, watch demonstrations, and engage with unfamiliar subjects more dynamically and learn the use of digital devices at the early age of their education.

Though the current rollout involves 5,000 devices, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan is committed to ensuring that every child in Kogi Central’s public schools will eventually have access to digital learning tools just like their counterparts in developed countries. “My dream is to equip all public primary and secondary schools in Kogi Central with digital learning devices before the end of my tenure in 2027,” she said. This initiative couldn’t come at a better time, when almost every aspect of life has been digitalized.

Our society cannot be left behind as very child deserves a fair shot at digital literacy, and by taking this bold step, the Senator is closing the huge gap and ensuring the children of Kogi Central have access to the best and quality education.

In the coming weeks, the digital learning devices will be return from UBEC, where they are being equipped with updated Nigerian curriculum, as well as international learning resources like Khan Academy and Discovery Kids. These devices will then be distributed to public primary and secondary schools across the district.

This initiative also includes a UBEC-led teacher training programme to bring public school teachers up to the global standards of smart schooling, all sponsored by Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan.

This is only the beginning of a journey Distinguished Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has embarked on, it’s one step at a time. Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan will never get tired of bringing the very best of democratic dividend to the good people of Kogi Central who entrusted her with this mandate.
