Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (Kogi Central/PDP) has expressed deep sympathy and solidarity with the people of Borno and Bauchi states who are affected by the recent devastating floods.

Recall heavy rains in recent days had forced the Alau Dam near Maiduguri, the Borno state capital, to overflow, destroying buildings, farmlands, and other valuables along the flood path.

In Bauchi and Yobe, residents have also suffered a similar fate as the rains pour harder.

Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan lauded the Federal Government, as well as the Borno and Bauchi state governments, the emergency response teams, and humanitarian organisations for their tireless efforts in providing relief.

She also urged the governments to implement measures to prevent similar disasters from happening again.

“I am deeply saddened by the news of the floods that have ravaged communities in Borno and Bauchi. My heart goes out to the resilient people of these states who have lost loved ones, homes, and livelihoods.

“Given the urgent relief and support from the federal and state governments to alleviate suffering, it is imperative to implement measures to prevent similar disasters from occurring again.

“The devastating impact of these floods demands swift and decisive action. I will continue to advocate for the necessary resources and support to ensure that affected communities receive the aid they desperately need.

“My thoughts and prayers remain with the people of Borno and Bauchi during this challenging time,” she stated.
