By Yusuf Abubakar.
Senator Atai Aidoko Ali (PDP, Kogi East) has charged the people of Kpanche, Ibiroko, Ozugbe in Bassa local government area of the state to live in peace in harmony.
Aidoko gave the charge in reaction to renewed ethnic crises between the two communities that led to death of several persons and loss of properties.
Senator Aidoko described the people of Bassa as peace loving people who overtime had accommodated various ethnic groups and lived together for decades without crises. He noted that the current trend negates the beliefs of their offshoots.
Kogi East senator expressed fear of possible escalation of the communal crises, that may likely be hijacked by rampaging fulani herdsmen who had indulged in series of killings all round in the country
He advised the traditional class and community leaders in the area to endeavour to broker truce among the Ebiras and Bassas ‎so as to douse the needless tension of age long rivalry among the communities.
He said the two recent events in the area will send wrong signals ‎to many visitors that trooped into the area for commercial large scale farming and other activities the area is known for over the years.
Kogi east senator opined that constant interaction between the major stakeholders in the area will address glaring issues capable of setting the communities against each other.
