The Senator representing Kogi West in the National Assembly, Senator Smart Adeyemi has expressed his readiness to immediately key into the Kogi state health insurance scheme in order to enable pregnant women in his constituency benefit from the programme.
Senator Adeyemi made this known when the executive secretary of kogi state health insurance agency, Dr. Adekunle Aledare and his management team paid the law maker an advocacy visit on the benefit of the scheme.
The lawmaker said the scheme provides an opportunity for well to do individuals and politicians alike to register their people on the informal sector package of the scheme in Kogi state.
Senator Adeyemi said he will use his little resources to register pregnant women of his constituency to enable them enjoy cheap treatment during their hectic pregnancy period.
He added that he has passion for pregnant women at the grassroots as many of them could not afford ante-natal treatment.
The lawmaker thanked Governor Yahaya Bello for introducing the scheme in the state.
He added that Dr. Aledare, who is the executive secretary of the scheme, is a senior medical officer with high integrity who will ensure the success of the scheme in the state.
Earlier, the executive secretary of Kogi State Health Insurance Agency, Dr. Adekunle Aledere said the advocacy visit was to intimate the lawmaker on the benefit package of the scheme for the electorate of his constituency.
He noted that the scheme was introduced by Governor Bello who is so passionate about the health needs of the entire people of Kogi state.
