A Political Pressure Group based in Kogi State, known as All-Nurudeen Abatemi Campaign Group, (ANACG), on Thursday endorsed the second term ambition of Senator Nurudeen Abatemi for Senate.
The group embarked on a rally in some parts of Lokoja, the state capital to sensitize the residents and citizens on the need to return Nurudeen for another term of four years. The members in their hundreds were seen with placards of various inscriptions calling for support for the project.
Coordinator of the Group, Abdullahi Lukman while addressing the newsmen in Lokoja, explained that the group was convinced about Nurudeen leadership qualities having re-written the history of Kogi State for good and setting a high standard for others to emulate.
Lukman disclosed that the group is a unified body of constituent loyalists-groups of Nurudeen, “who after clinching
victory at the polls in 2011 general elections decided to create an umbrella body for all the groups which are loyal to
the cause of the senator.”
He further declared that, going by the barrage of lies being- bandied about by foes within and without, the need to prove to them that Nurudeen is indeed a man to beat also makes the event expedient, recalling that on assumption at the red chamber, the senator stood before the generality of citizens and dwellers of the state.
He equally buttressed the group claim pointing out that Nurudeen has diligently followed the four cardinal programs, of Progressives Peoples Alliance(PPA) which include; Providing health care centre, empowerment on agricultural production, empowering the youth in computer skills knowledge/skills acquisitions
programme for generation employment.
Lukman said, “As laudable as the achievements of Senator Nurudeen Abatemi are, what endears us to him are more than delivery of electioneering promises. It is our opinion that a government needs not be over-praised for doing what it was elected to do on behalf of the people, using the resources of the govt.”
He added, “The number one quality of the man called Nurudeen Abatemi that is rare to find in modern day
politicians and which qualifies him for second term is the spirit of oneness extended to opposition and detractors,
even when he has all the reasons to alienate them.
“Though this initially angered us but the man continually reminds his followers that Kogi State belongs to all of us
irrespective of political party affiliations and that we must not become who our enemies are,” the Coordinator
stressed.
“Beyond the visible achievements in his time as a senator, Senator Nurudeen Abatemi, has qualities that certainly qualify him to continue beyond 2016. We hereby express our endorsement to, Senator Nurudeen Abatemi for second term in office and solicit the support of all the good people of Kogi Central to vote for good governance so as to assure continued growth and development of our dear state,” he said.
