We have had enough and as a matter of fact, anyone aspiring for the national Assembly seat from Kogi central should not ask for support on the promise to make Ajaokuta Steel Company work.
Past and present federal legislators from Kogi central and Kogi State at large have not shown any serious commitment toward the revitalization of the steel company.
They know how dare the gigantic steel is to the heart of Kogites and Kogi central in particular, so they capitalize on this to form the core point of their campaign.
The people of Central Senatorial District have sacrificed genuineness for selfish representation. Those that will be used by God to make sure the steel company will work again will do the job without pre election or voting noise. The promise to make Ajaokuta work is no longer a new song. Sen M.S Ohiare, late Sen Salihu Ohize, Sen Nurudeen Abatemi and the Current Sen Ahmed Ogembe all sang it to get voted. Apart from Sen M.S Ohiare who showed little commitment to the point of proposing a Steel University of Nigeria in Ajaokuta, all those that succeeded him surreptitiously used the steel company to make money thereby failing in their promise.
No single individual can make Ajaokuta work no matter the noise. Those who want to venture into politics will tactically and deceitfully make a rowdy noise about Ajaokuta the next is indication of interest to contest for Senate. Ajaokuta is no longer a political opium. We are not carried away by such campaign.
The main issue is that, before now, kogi have not had a cohesive legislators at the National Assembly. It is either they are from different party which is the major problem as it has to do with party supremacy instead of the people first or excessive tribal and ethnic inclination that has drew us backward.
Thank God for the new direction government of Alh Yahaya Adoza Bello who in his wisdom killed that spirit of ethnicity and tribal bigotry. With the tripartite legislative arsenal about to be fired to the upper chamber of National Assembly in in good working relationship with their counterpart at the lower chamber, Kogi State is in for a massive developmental upsurge.
We must all support the APC and PMB/GYB to actualize this goal. Ajaokuta will work and it will be propelled by the new direction government headed by his excellency Alh Yahaya Adoza Bello. No more deceit.
