Hundreds of youths from Ajaokuta Federal Constituency, on Tuesday declared their support for the House of Representatives and Ajaokuta state constituency aspirations of the immediate past chairman of Ajaokuta Local Government council, Hon. Aloysius Adeiza Okino and Hon Haruna Muhammed.
Addressing newsmen at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) secretariat in Lokoja where they obtained the intent form for the House of Reps hopeful, the youths noted that their support for the duo of Okino and Haruna was premised on the fact that the local government was well manage and recorded unprecedented development when they served at the council level.
They particularly argued that when Aloysius father, Chief Moses Ado Okino was in the House of Representatives between 2003 to 2007, the area witnessed monumental development which nobody has been able to surpass.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Honorable Zakariah Ademu said that the sufferings in the area can only be ameliorated if “humane and focused characters” like Aloysius and Haruna were voted into the green chamber of the National Assembly.
He noted that the infrastructures put in place by their administration as council Chairman and supervisory councilor have all given way, saying that the area is in dire need of upgrade of its critical infrastructures for the benefit of its citizenry.
According to him, Aloysius has made his mark in his public and private life, noting that voting him to represent the people at the National Assembly will return Ajaokuta LGA to its pride of place.
According to the group, given his antecedent, he would be able to press for the completion and operation of the Ajaokuta Steel complex which they said will generate thousands of employment opportunities.
He passionately appealed to Okino not to reject their “clarion call,” saying that the Federal Constituency needs “urgent and serious deliverance”.
He called on the youths across the state to rally round Okino whom he said has their welfare and well-being at heart.
“We are here to collect the intent form for our two representatives for the House of Representatives and the Kogi State House of Assembly, Honorable Aloysius Okino and Honorable Muhammed Haruna respectively.
“They are two combination that have been tested and trusted and in the history of our party we have never had it so good as in the tenure of the two aspirants when they served the people at the Local Government level.
“Alhaji Haruna Muhammed was the supervisory Councillor for works and Aloysius Okino was the Local Government chairman. They carried out a lot of projects which up till today no other leaders have matched their records that is why we want them to come back to serve us so that the same projects they have done they would replicate.
“The problem created by APC today at the national level and other parts of the country of which Kogi is not left out has become an advantage for us in the PDP because we are all united and strong.
“As ALGON Chairman Kogi State, his achievements are numerous. That is why we have thrown our weight behind them as aspirant for the House of Representatives and the State House of Assembly respectively.
